Our House Originally.
We bought a little post-war asbestos clad hardwood home on 800m2 in January, 2010. This is how it looked from the front and the air. We set out to rebuild on the block immediately. Click on “Rebuilding in Brisbane” for more background. Click on “Archives” or “Uncategorized” for regular updates.
An aerial view shows the depth of the block behind the house. Not really visible in this shot, the neighbour on the right had a lot of trees in the back yard; lemonscented gum and leopardwood. They attracted lots of lovely birds, but shaded our block too much. This made us appreciated the difficulties of large trees on suburban blocks, which seem better suited to park land. Luckily for us, the owner removed most of these trees (because they presented a danger to people and his house) just as we were demolishing.
